TAGUM CITY – Strengthening the security measures provided by the local government unit of Tagum during the community quarantine period in the city, the 2201st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade was deployed as part of the frontline workforce to battle against the fatal threats of COVID-19.
The reservists formed part of the COVID-19 City Task Force (CCTF) Tagum and some places in Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental, and were mainly tasked to strictly implement urgent and critical measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
No less than Mayor Allan L. Rellon led the 2201st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade as Acting Brigade Commander and Task Force Head of the CCTF and spearheaded the overall policy making, planning and decision-making relative to the response efforts of the task force.
The team organized the Physical Distancing Marshal that would roam around Tagum City, prompting people to maintain physical distancing of at least 2 meters apart from each other to avoid spreading of the disease in accordance with the directives of the LGU Tagum.
Marshals used loudspeakers to remind people of the importance of physical distancing while patrolling along the city streets and especially in places where crowds usually converge such as markets and other public places.
Reservists Transport Marshal was also organized where a special transport bus was provided to ferry employees of Davao Regional Medical Center to and from their homes and workplace during the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the city in which public transport was not allowed.
The Reservists also acted as security forces during the distribution of cash assistance to the poorest residents of Tagum City in compliance to the Social Amelioration Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
