Boy Scouts declare Mayor Rellon best local council chairperson

Tagum City garnered another laurel of excellence in terms of scouting and leadership in the BSP 62nd Annual National Council Meeting at the Philippine Gateway Hotel, Surigao City. The event ran from May 5-8, 2018 that reflects the mantra “Unity amidst Diversity” of the Boy Scout of the Philippines.

In the recently concluded activity, Mayor Allan Rellon, council chairperson of the BSP Tagum City Council, was hailed as one of the Most Outstanding BSP Local Council Chairperson for 2018. Among the 106 councils all over the Philippines, Tagum City council was fortunate and blessed to receive the award.

Few of the highest and prestigious recognitions were also awarded to the members of the Tagum City BSP council. These are the Highest Gross of Sales Scout Shop, the Membership Incentive Award, the National Higher Award, the Silver Tamaraw, the Bronze Tamaraw, the Gold Usa, the Silver Usa, and the Bronze Usa. These acknowledgements only show how enthusiastic the Tagum City BSP Council is in its endeavour of scouting and leadership.

The convention was attended by 981 BSP council chairpersons, delegates and participants throughout the entire island of the Philippines.

During the convention, Mayor Rellon reported the milestone of the 6th ASEAN Scout Jamboree which was held at the Energy Park of Tagum last November 2017. According to him, the success of the jamboree is not the sole Tagumpay of Tagum but it was also forged through the cooperation, the collective efforts and the helping hands of all, in the spirit of scouting.

Mayor Rellon also turned over the official post-activity report of the 6th ASEAN Scout Jamboree which contained the compilation of what has transpired during the camp to the National Council. This, as Mayor Rellon hopes, will serve as reference and benchmarking tool for crafting meaningful scouting in the near future. John Patrick Cordovero/CIO Tagum
