City hall provides safe haven for Tagumenyo youth

Tagum City – Endeavouring to raising awareness in Tagumenyo youth regarding the issues which affect their well-being, the local government through the City Youth Development Office (CYDO) launched the Tambayan Center last March 2.

Located at the CYDO’s balcony, Tambayan center is aimed to provide an avenue and an opportunity to every youth in the city to attend fora and symposia concerning the current issues involving and victimizing the youth sector as laid out in the plans.

Currently, the facility offers an open space for youth organizations and the Sangguniang Kabataan to meet and discuss their plans and programs for the benefit of Tagumenyos age 15 to 30 years old. Information boards and reading materials for youth empowerment are made available for them.

According to Dr. Jacqueline B. De Asis, this project is a great feat for Tagumenyo youth saying, “Having this center, young people will be accorded with the opportunity to express themselves through sharing, networking, and advocating their ideas for issues which affect them.”

De Asis further claimed that this compliments Mayor Allan L. Rellon’s agenda on social services for it will cater the needs of the young people in Tagum including education and employment opportunities through a safe, interactive, and youth-friendly environment.

Also present in the launching were SK Pederasyon President Ethan John Monilla, Tagum Youth Developers Club, Youth Advocate for Health and Development Organization, and Tagum City Youth Development Council members, as well as the City Youth Development Office staffs. JP Cordovero/CIO Tagum
