In a surprise move, LGU Tagum subjects its security officers to drug test anew

Tagum City – In its quest to finally free the city from drugs, the local government unit of Tagum in partnership with the Philippine National Police conducted a surprise drug test on the “Agents of State” composed of Security Management Office, Traffic Management Office, and Special Task Group Tagum’s FINEST.

More than 800 SMO, TMO, and Tagum’s FINEST officers underwent a surprise drug test spearheaded by the city that was facilitated at the police station of Tagum last November 5, 2019.

The surprise drug test revealed few personnel who were positive on drug use and were therefore removed from their posts. The said personnel will face administrative charges.

“No excuse”, Mr. Giovanni Rellon, the City Administrative Officer and Action Officer of the City Anti- drug Abuse Council said in an interview following the mandatory drug test on security officers. He also added that the LGU keeps on looking for bad people outside of the government force but little did they know that some might be among the civil servants as well.

Consequently, this will be an opportunity to look for law-breaking individuals inside the government and should be a warning to all civil servants to be role models to the public especially that this is just the beginning of the series of surprise drug tests that will follow. Ziyarah Manalo/CIO Tagum
