The Tagum City Library unveiled a new information section that will satisfy its patron’s queries on currency, financial, and economic matters.
Supervised by Bank Officer Dorothy Joy A. Diaz of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Davao City, the BSP Corner was formally unveiled in the city library last May 10, 2017, with several pamphlets, brochures, periodicals, and other BSP publications, available for the patrons.
Ms. Diaz said that they identified libraries around the region where they can provide their own information corner as part of the BSP’s advocacy to impart financial and economic literacy to the people, all the while supported by the BSP Economic and Financial Learning Center.
The BSP section serves as a resource-sharing medium for knowledge on specialized topics of banking, finance, currency, and economics – that includes efficient credit card usage, among other interests.
This addition to the city library is in line with the Communication Development component of the Rellon administration’s ten-point agenda, the EAGLE WINGS program.
In the hopes of promoting financial and economic literacy to the society, the BSP Economic and Financial Learning Center continues to scout for more public libraries to be installed with their own information section.
So far, the Tagum City Library is the first in Davao del Norte, and one of the three libraries in Region XI to have its own BSP Corner, with Digos and Davao cities as co-pioneers of the installment. Drex Rafols/CIO Tagum
