LGU Tagum introduces localized Real Property Taxation Learning Module for Grade 9 students

Tagum City, Davao del Norte – In time for third grading period, the City Treasurer’s Office in partnership with Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRDMS) Division of Tagum City of the Department of Education Region XI, revealed a learning module for grade 9 students last October 2, 2017 at the New City Hall, Tagum City.

The module includes the fundamental principles for general provisions, appraisal and assessment, special levies, collection and disposition of proceeds, and remedies on the collection of real property tax delinquencies. Ergo, the goal of this joint project is to spread awareness on taxation among young students.

In her acceptance speech, Ms. Leila Ibita, the Education Program Supervisor of the Araling Panlipunan, said that this is a great opportunity to teach young students the importance of tax to our economy and the role of the local government unit in maximizing these money to produce top notch public service programs.

Likewise, different teachers from public and private schools underwent a seminar conducted by the CTO staffs regarding the real property taxation at Molave Hotel, Tagum City from May 23-25 of the same year. The participating teachers co-authored the said module and were given copies during the launching event. Mass production is still on going as of the penning of this article.

The city hopes that by producing this module, tax generation will improve and would pave way for more investments and other opportunities for Tagumeños. The module is also available online through the LRDMS portal by DEpEd Region XI. Ziyarah Manalo/CIO Tagum
