LGU Tagum joins this year’s roster of national finalist for CSC’s Kwentong Lingkod Bayani

Tagum City – True to the City Information Office’s mission of creating, producing, and disseminating timely, accurate, relevant, and free-flowing information that highlights the good governance advocated by the City Government of Tagum, the office gets recognized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) in its search for “Kwentong Lingkod Bayani” program as a national finalist.

Kwentong Lingkod Bayani program is initiated by the CSC to find stories and examples of excellent public service that warrant recognition. There will be no monetary gains from being nominated or awarded for the said program but the stories collected will be immortalized through a book to be published by the agency.

“INFRA PA MORE: LGU Tagum Inaugurates Big-Time Infra Projects Amidst Pandemic” is a press release written by Ziyarah Manalo, a writer from the City Information Office that caught the CSC’s attention. The said article highlighted the efforts of the city in continuing its infrastracture projects despite the limitations and challenges that the LGU is facing due to the pandemic.

According to Atty. Sergio O. Lumba Jr., the official validator from CSC Region XI office, the said story stood out due to the content’s sincerity in sharing a lingkod bayani’s characteristic of going above and beyond his/her mandate. He further added that although understandable, some government agencies reduced their workforce to avoid getting infected by COVID-19 but the City Government of Tagum found a way to continue working to provide necessary facilities and services needed by the people with enough consideration to its employees’ health and well-being.

Edna J. Quilario, the City Human Resource Management Officer in response told the validator that what the LGU of Tagum is doing is in congruence to its branding of public service that champions the people. It is the reflection of its mantra: Tagum, Tagumpay.

Meanwhile, Mayor Allan L. Rellon welcomed Atty. Lumba Jr. during the latter’s courtesy call at the Mayor’s Office prior to the validation proper. He then later on faced the representatives from the City Information Office, City Engineer’s Office, City Architect’s Office, and the City Human Resource Management Office for their presentation at the 5th floor Conference Area of the City Hall last October 14, 2020. Ziyarah Manalo/CIO Tagum
