Following the yearly success of the summer workshops granted by the City Government of Tagum, this year’s installment of the Lingaw sa Tag-Araw Festival offered a new addition to the existing series of workshops featured in the said festival.
Spending summer in Tagum City has always been a delightful one for the youth and children as the City Government of Tagum treats them with an array of workshops that nurture their ingenuity and give them opportunities to showcase their hidden potential and talents as well.
This year’s edition of the Lingaw sa Tag-Araw Festival consisted of three major workshops: Visual Arts Workshop, Rondalla Workshop, and the newest Brass Band Workshop – all well-participated by the youngsters of Tagum City.
At the Visual Arts Workshop held at the CityMall Tagum on May 2-4 and City Hall AVR on May 8-12, kids enjoyed learning not just the basics but even the pro techniques in painting as well. Their finished painted masterpieces are on display at the fourth floor of Tagum City Hall for public viewing.
The Rondalla Workshop was also one of the many programs the young Tagumenyos can participate to during the summer break with the renowned Rondalla master Nelson G. Espejo as the trainer-conductor.
Living up to its pride as the Marching Showband Capital of the Philippines, the Brass Band Community in Tagum City is getting bigger as a great number of Tagumenyo youngsters participated in the Brass Band Workshop. Also included in the workshop are trainings for Baton Twirlers and Color Guards, which were spearheaded by the City Tourism Office through the support of Pambansang Samahan ng mga Banda sa Pilipinas (PASAMBAP) and the Philippines Marching Showbands Incorporated (PAMSBI).
The Lingaw sa Tag-Araw Festival 2017 lasted from April 28 to May 21, with the workshops simultaneously held in different venues. Drex Rafols/CIO Tagum
