New Army Reservists strengthen security measures in Tagum

Tagum City— 49 newly-hired Tagumenyo reservists from the 2201st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade were added to the pool of security personnel of the City Government of Tagum to aid in maintaining the orderliness in the city.

Some of these reservists are detailed to every government-owned establishments, schools, and public markets, while others are assigned to different task forces such as the anti-smoking task force, social distancing marshals, and public market COVID-19 task force, among others.

Since the recorded COVID-19 cases in the city is at its peak, according to Mayor Allan L. Rellon, strengthening the city’s armed forces is a must during this pandemic to instil discipline to the people to follow laws, especially the precautionary measures against this unseen but deadly nemesis.

In relation to this, the 2201st Ready Reserve Infantry Brigade held a commendatory rite for all Tagumenyo reservists who put their lives on the line in serving the public during this pandemic.

Held last November 27 at the Tagum City Hall atrium, 18 Tagumenyo reservists were awarded with their Second Bronze Cross Medal while 55 were given their First Bronze Cross medal.

Mayor Allan L. Rellon who has the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Philippine Army Reserve was bestowed with his Third Bronze Cross Medal with Second Bronze Anahaw Leaf.

No less than LTGEN Jose C. Faustino, Jr., the Commander of Eastern Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines graced the ceremony to commend the reservists in risking their lives to perform their sworn duty.

To achieve the coveted genuine peace, safety and security in Tagum, Mayor Rellon formed partnership with this organization and others with the same vision as stipulated in its mission of having an open government where people have the rights and the freedom to voice out their opinions on how to run the government.

Further, the mayor strongly believes that with these partnerships, Tagum will propel to greater heights of success. JP Cordovero/CIO Tagum
