TAGUM CITY–After rigorous training and series of community services, a freelance model and an 18 year old senior high school student heralded Tagum’s timeless beauty and progress as she bagged this year’s highly coveted crown in the sixth edition of Mutya ng Tagum City.
Jeanne Nicci Orcena is one of the youngest among the batch and is the only contender who represented a private institution (Tagum Doctors College) during the coronation last November 24, 2018 at the City Hall Atrium.
She wowed the crowd through her determination and wit as she relayed to the public how important culture is and how the community should be sensitive in terms of cultural preservation.
She also championed the Mandapaan Farm Tourism project proposal that is expected to bring economic gains to local farmers, educate the Agri-Aqua sector, and attract tourists which eventually paved her way to the crown as she won the special award for it.
In her final interview, it is evident that the stunner will bring home the crown when she explained what makes Tagum the City of People, as asked by Mayor Allan Rellon.
“There are two reasons why Tagum City is also known as the City of People. And the first reason is because we have everything anyone could ever want and we cater to various interests of every person. And the second reason is that we are a diversified city. We compose of different ages, different religion, different cultures, and different genders but Tagum sees us all as equal – with equal rights, equal respect, and equal parts of the city to herald timeless beauty and progress to reach Tagum, Tagumpay!”
In addition, the former Mutya ng barangay San Miguel also received the Most Eloquent Award, a trip to Thailand all-expense paid by SOAPlada and an exclusive endorsement contract of the product, 60,000 worth of dental care by Dental Republic by Doc Chad & Camille Fabular, 50,000 peso cash, 1 year supply of Nature Spring, Salvatorre bag, speakers by AlfaLink, and 1,000 worth of gift certificate.
When asked about her future plans, she said that she’s open to any concerns of the people that she could relay to the city government as the ambassadress of goodwill, focus on her studies as she is also a graduating student, look for scholarships to pursue medical technology in college, and prepare for Binibining DavNor, the annual beauty pageant sanctioned by the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte.
Meanwhile, three-time beauty queen Kate Sierras Nalugon was hailed as the Mutya ng Kalikasan (1st runner up) and received 30,000 cash; a registered CPA, Remylyn Babagay was named the new Mutya ng Turismo (2nd runner up) and received 20,000 cash plus Miss Kinesio Fitness title with a free gym membership for a year, the first timer beauty Ziyarah Manalo (3rd runner up) who is a filmmaker and writer brought home 15,000 cash and the title Mutya ng Karunungan; and Froline Cielo Fernandez who is the youngest of the contestants won as the Mutya ng Kaunlaran (4th runner up), 10,000 cash, and Best in Talent award. All of them received gift bags from SOAPlada and speakers from AlfaLink.
Other special awards handed out during the coronation night are: Candidate no. 6 Jesette Composo Ore bagged the Best in Gown, Best in Casual Dress and Miss Photogenic; Candidate no. 12 Christine Diahnne Pelovello as Best in Playsuit; amd Candidate no. 8 Orlene Tricia Salomon as Miss Congeniality.
