TAGUM CITY – In an effort to match the country’s strengthened drive against illegal drugs, and in consonance with the aim of the local government unit of Tagum of having genuine peace, security and safety, the police forces from both Davao del Norte Provincial Office and the Tagum City Station have worked together to curtail the illegal drug activities in the city which resulted in the arrest of more than 70 persons who were caught in flagrante delicto in a span of six days.
On September 22, 2018, the joint forces from the Tagum City Police and the Davao del Norte Police were able to apprehend Reed Ryan C. Denila of Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte who, during a Buy-Bust Operation coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), sold to the team one (1) piece of big, heat-sealed sachet of shabu in exchange for a Php 500 marked money.
During the operation, the police which was able to confiscate from the possession of Denila another 4-piece heat-sealed sachet containing shabu, one improvised tooter, one digital weighing scale, and one unit UZI Sub-machine gun loaded with nine (9) live ammunitions, also arrested Mary Shane L. Clarin of the Municipality of Sto. Tomas, and Rose Celestial de Leon of Tagum City who were found to be in possession of four sachets of shabu each as well as other illegal drug paraphernalia.
Meanwhile, on September 17, 2018, the joint forces headed by PSSupt. Alan Manibog, the director of the provincial police, and PSupt Philip Jefferson Ayban of the Tagum City Police, arrested Rodel C. Casili of Bacuring, Barangay Madaum sold to the team one (1) piece of elongated heat-sealed transparent plastic cellophane containing what was believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, in exchange for a Php 500 marked money during a buy-bust operation; the police was also able to seize three other heat-sealed containers of shabu of varying sizes, a piece of transparent plastic cellophane containing dried Marijuana leaves, a caliber .45 pistol, and a metallic magazine with three pieces of live ammunitions, among others.
In a separate occasion on September 17th, an Anti-Illegal Drug Operation conducted by personnel from the Tagum City police who teamed up with the personnel from PDEA XI led by Agent Clodito Cañada, resulted into the arrest of seven individuals in the person of Louie S. Diaz of Orange Valley, Magugpo South, who sold a piece of shabu to the team; Lary N. Plaza and Ernesto D. Tampus of Davao City who were found to be in possession of a packet containing shabu and other drug paraphernalia, Dirk Benedict A. Diaz of Tagum and Elmer S. Dula-ogon, Sr. of Bansalan, who were found each with an improvised tooter, and Cherry An Maduay of Monkayo, ComVal Province from whom the buy-bust money in her possession was seized; Rommel S. Pasco of Tagum City was also among those arrested during a pot session involving all the seven individuals.
Notably, the joint forces of the PNP’s Regional and Provincial Mobile Force, SWAT, Tagum City Police, as well as the PDEA XI were also able to arrest 72 individuals during a drug buy-bust operation conducted in the early hours of September 16, 2018 at the coastal barangay of Madaum from whom and where three big sachets and 9 small ones containing shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and 26 motorcycles were recovered.
Of those arrested during the dawn anti-illegal drug operation, 47 were taken to the Tagum Police Station to undergo drug test; 85% of these 47 individuals reside in Tagum, while the rest are from Panabo City, Maco and Mabini in Compostela Valley Province, Maguindanao and Davao City.
All the individuals who were in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were detained at the Tagum City Police Station awaiting appropriate legal action while the pieces of evidence would be subjected to examination and proper disposition.
