Tagum’s civil registry office cited for excellent performance

TAGUM CITY—Through the earnest effort of Tagum City’s Local Civil Registry Office (LCR), spearheaded by Flordeliza J. Zulueta under the leadership of Mayor Allan L. Rellon, the LCR office was awarded as 5th placer in 2016 and garnered the 4th place in 2017 in the search for the National Outstanding Local Civil Registry Office.

The awarding of the prestigious recognitions was held at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City during the 9th National Workshop on Civil Registration by the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Tagum’s LCR was commended due to their prompt, proper and accurate filing and reporting of civil registry documents, and supporting programs.

The programs offered by the LCR objectify to have a 100% rate of registry in the city.

Mobile Registration, as the banner program of the LCR, travels across the entire city of Tagum to conduct lectures and assessments together with their partners; the Barangay Secretaries, Hospitals and Lying-ins, Schools and Religious leaders to help enhancing the partners through capability building in updating the records of birth and marriage certificates, as well as, refresher for the law and city ordinances for better registry service.

Another program is the Kasalan sa Tagum wherein the LGU Tagum offers free marriage for both Catholic and non-Catholic unwed couples in Tagum every quarter of the year.

From application, licensing, registration and seminars, the city registrar shouldered all the expenses to address the problem of the city in child illegitimacy and to give them their rights and identity. This is according to Ms. Zulueta, the City Local Civil Registry Officer.

MDMIK or Maling Dokumento Mo, Iwasto Ko is another big shot of the city’s registry office. This is a service offered to Tagumenyos who have erroneous information as to their birth certificates by correcting the errors.

To boost the projects of the office, they are also affiliated to the Public Education and Employment Office (PEESO), the City Economic Enterprises Office (CEEO), the Indigenous People and Muslim Affairs Office (IPMAO), SSS, and the Tagum Cooperative.

Meanwhile, once every February, LCR conducts a free service fair for all Tagumenyos in connection to the Civil Registration Month.

Added to this, they also administer charity program once a year. JP Cordovero/ CIO Tagum
