Tagum’s locally-funded infra projects in full swing

TAGUM CITY—This city benefitted in the infrastructure boom following the construction of different infrastructure projects left and right in the city which local officials say is the local government’s counterpart to the Build Build Build Campaign of the current administration.

Last September 22, 2018, Mayor Allan Rellon spearheaded the visitation of various vertical projects under the 680 M Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) loan, the Department of Public Works and Highways funded projects, together with the city officials.

The mayor and his entourage visited the three projects inside the city hall compound which are the Child Minding Center, The Mediation House, and the Sunflower Garden.

Outside of the compound, the officials headed to the New Tagum City Police and Training Station at the old slaughterhouse site, the Hijo Cadastral Road in Brgy. Madaum, DPWH-Bypass road from Brgy. Canocotan to Brgy. San Miguel, CDRRMO building, the Traffic Signalization in Mabini and Sobrecarey St. junction, the Tagum City Cultural and Historical Center at the old city hall site, and the billion-peso Flyover project along the national highway.

An evaluation and assessment immediately followed wherein the local chief executive thanked the people who joined the visitation. He also expressed his excitement for the completion of the big-ticket projects that would greatly help the Tagumenyos in their everyday life; be it surviving the traffic or professing their faith.

“We will tell the public that this is it. This is what the previous na naay fake news roaming around that really affected the image of the city and our leaders, and how we work. … Katong giingon nila na mali, mali ang proseso, etc. And then finally, the DILG favoured us because dapat lang man gyud – legally, morally, and in procedural aspect,” Mayor Rellon said.

Chief of Staff Ms. Rose Garcia represented Congressman Pantaleon Alvarez in the said event who in turn conveyed the message of the congressman to the people of Tagum.

Some of the projects are expected to be completed next year during March or April while the Mindanao Railway Project phase 1 will begin construction on February 2019. Ziyarah Manalo/CIO Tagum
