Tagum’s new police station expected to boost PNP’s performance on peace and order

TAGUM CITY—This city’s police force now holds its main headquarters in a new complex replete with spacious halls and new facilities, in what could be a bold testament to the city’s solid advocacy in putting optimum focus on peace and order.

No less than former Philippine National Police Director General and now Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa graced the twin inauguration and blessing of the highly anticipated Tagum City Police Station and Training Complex last July 17, 2019.

The complex — built on a parcel of land donated by the City Government of Tagum to the PNP — was materialized using part of the 650 million peso- loan obtained by the LGU from the Development Bank of the Philippines, with a Php 50 million counterpart funding from the PNP.

The new facility, included as one of the banner projects under Mayor Allan Rellon’s localized Build Build Build initiative, will also house the Security Management Office, a fitness gym, a covered court, a canteen, and an indoor shooting range.

Senator dela Rosa, credited for being instrumental in the approval of the funding from the PNP national leadership during his time as PNP Chief, heaped praises on PNP Tagum for its performance on peace and order but also challenged the policemen to take care of the building, citing that its cleanliness and orderliness will reflect on them as men in uniform.

The neophyte solon also called the city the “Pride of Mindanao” for what it has achieved, including the quality and standard of living in Tagum.

Meanwhile, Mayor Rellon ensured Tagumenyos of heightened measures that will lead towards the achievement of genuine peace, safety and security in his remaining three years as the local chief executive.

Among those that he enumerated is the possibility of conducting seminars regarding Citizen’s Arrest, as well as the development of reward schemes for people who will contribute to police intelligence.

For his part, Tagum City Chief of Police Philip Jefferson Ayban also said that the local police will implement the law as best as they could and stressed the importance of having human resource in the maintenance not only of the new building complex, but most especially in the achievement of genuine peace, safety and security in the city. He added that the Tagum PNP is ready to work with Force Multipliers while awaiting for new graduates to join the police ranks.

The event was also witnessed by the Police Regional Office XI Regional Director,  PBGen.Marcelo C. Morales, Davao del Norte Vice Governor Rey T. Uy, Tagum City Vice Mayor Eva Lorraine Estabillo, the members of the 8th City Council, officials of/and men in uniform, LGU department heads, and other guests.
