Training intensified as Tagum sets gaze on online jobs

TAGUM CITY— Seeing a potential for online opportunities and services, the Public Education and Employment Services Office (PEESO) of Tagum launched its first ever “Project Boost” program intended to open the door for online opportunities to Tagumenyos.

26 beneficiaries enjoy the Virtual Assistant Training which is part of the Project Boost program of PEESO that aims to educate the people of the online opportunities and to increase the unemployment rate through providing online jobs like ESL teaching, virtual work, and other ICT-related jobs in partnership with online companies, NGOs, GOs, POs, and other stakeholders.

The program has 10 modules which kicked off last May 28. The modules focus on administrative services, basic graphic designing, content management, and online reputation management among others.

The first ever VA training invited the CEO of the Knights of Online Marketers, Ronald “Piper” Ramboanga to be the guest speaker.

“One of the mandates kasi ng present administration is actually talent development particularly bringing the opportunities to the countryside,” he said, adding that this prompted him to bring digital opportunity to other cities not included in the list of Center of Excellence in terms of the information technology industry.

A former nurse, Madel Tumulac – Bejenia thanked the local government unit especially PEESO for conducting the said training which provided people options to work home-based.

“Naa man juy risks na involved so at least kani opportunity na mag work ka sa balay, kanang tanan man inclined sa computers, ginatudluan ta diri unsaon ang proper ways sa pag-utilize sa computers,” Bejenia told CIO Tagum.

“The online outsourcing industry is actually for everyone. Hindi mahirap makahanap ng trabaho especially if you have a lot of skills in using the ICT to its full advantage,” says Ramboanga, who is bullish that those who will engage in online jobs can contribute in keeping the local economy afloat.

Ramboanga added that the ICT industry has rapidly risen to the ranks of economic booster being the second following OFW as the first on the list of big contributors to the economic development in the Philippines. According to her, given this recent development, it is wise to invest on the ICT industry for years to come.

PEESO is set to conduct a similar training in the future and encourages every Tagumenyos to visit their office and official Facebook page for education and employment opportunities.
