Youth Festival Ordinance inked

Living up to its moniker as a Home of Festivals, Tagum City proudly welcomes its recently-declared Youth Festival as an addition to its wide array of annual celebrations.

Mayor Allan L. Rellon signed into law City Ordinance No. 811, s-2017, which pertains to the conduct of the Tagum City Youth Festival, scheduled on every second week of August annually.

This is a manifestation of the Local Government Unit of Tagum’s recognition of the vital role of the youth in nation building, and promoting their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being, as well as encouraging their involvement in public and civic affairs.

The city’s Youth Festival will be an annual gathering of the youth where they can participate and showcase their talents in art, music, dance, sports, and academics, and an event wherein they can remind the general public of their fundamental human rights as young people.

In response to the declaration of the Ordinance, Tagum City celebrated its first Youth Festival in time for the International Youth Week Celebration, which was conducted last August 5 to August 12, 2017, and was centered on the theme “Youth Building Peace”.

Various activities were organized for the week-long celebration and each activity was well-participated by Tagumenyo youngsters. Such activities include Tree Planting, ASEAN Youth Forum, Symposium: Youth Building Peace, Youth Investment Seminar, Soil Bagging, Kabataang Tagumenyo Job Fair, HIV Awareness Campaign, Spoken Word Poetry, and Battle of the Bands. DREX RAFOLS/CIO Tagum
