Musikahan sa Tagum 2024: Harmony that unites the City

TAGUM CITY – It is the home of the Musikahan Festival, which is the most harmonious event of all. It is a festival that transforms the city into a spectacular musical arena with thousands of musical revelers from all over the country and Asia Pacific, this is why Tagum City was known as the “Music Capital of the South”.

The week-long event started with Rondalla Camps that encouraged young musicians to explore more in their Field of music. Visitors from China and Indonesia also graced the Musikahan Festival 2024 with their Music that showcased their culture that signified harmony and unity.

This year’s Musikahan was tested due to a flood that surrounded the Tagum area, our Tagum City Tourism, Culture and Arts Council, Inc. ChairpersonMs. Alma L. Uy headed by our loving Mayor, the Aksyon agad Man – Mayor Rey T. Uy initiated the Musikahan Outreach where they visited different schools – Public or Private – to inspire people and lift up their spirits during those trying times.

Tagum is also known for their love of Rondalla, therefore, Rondalla Groups across the nation presented themselves proudly as they performed their musical piece with pride. Each of them left a huge impact to every listeners, everyone was in awe of each strings plucked and angelic voices singing.

As the music feels kept spreading, schools around the nation gathered to learn more from the Masterclass and Workshop. Also, a harmonious Choir competition took place at the Tagum Theater hall that filled the place with lovely melodies.

As the events of Musikahan sa Tagum was happening consecutively, a 3-day 24/7 concert took place at the Energy Park Tagum, called the Mindanao Earth Music Camp, featuring Praise and Worship songs, Jazz and Pop Music, Rock and Ballad, and lastly, Alternative Music.

Lastly, the Barangay Musikahan Grand Finals took place, where the Five Barangays – Nueva Fuerza, Liboganon, Magugpo East, Canocotan, and Busaon are the Finalists. They are the ones who stood out the most out of all the Barangays. They feature their jaw-dropping talents and gifts in music. Their dedication, passion, and commitment was truly shining throughout their performances.

This yearly celebration serves as a clear demonstration of Tagum City’s steadfast support for local and national cultural and arts initiatives. With the city’s ever-growing passion for the Musikahan Festival, it has truly evolved into a harmonious blend of unity, innovation, and a passionate commitment to uphold and showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines.
